If we’ve convinced you that leaving grass clippings in moderation is the right choice for your lawn, and that you also want to have the optimal amount of thatch, the next question you’re probably asking is, how do I make that happen? What can I do to make sure I have the right amount of thatch? So really, the relationship between grass clippings and thatch buildup is minimal. Tall fescue shows less tendency to produce thatch than Kentucky bluegrass therefore returning clippings to tall fescue lawns is even less likely to increase thatch buildup.” Department of Agriculture has demonstrated that clipping removal for eight years only reduced thatch buildup 12% in Kentucky bluegrass turf. Grass blades usually do break down easily. That’s because thatch is made up of those parts of the plants that don’t break decay as easily. However, research has shown that with proper lawn maintenance strategies, grass clippings do not cause a significant increase in thatch buildup. What is the relationship between thatch and grass clippings?Ī common belief used to be that leaving grass clippings on the lawn would cause excess thatch buildup. ![]() It can also make your lawn more susceptible to diseases and insect infestations. ![]() Thatch that is too thick can prevent air, water, and nutrients from seeping down into the roots. But if thatch builds up too much (more than 1/2 an inch), it can cause problems. In moderation, thatch is beneficial, because it can serve as an insulation to your turf, shielding it from extreme temperature and moisture swings. This can sometimes be related to what we call thatch buildup. This can happen in the spring and fall when grass growth is at its peak, and the clippings do not have time to break down between mowing. So if you find that clippings remain on the lawn from the previous mowing, you may need to bag. Excessive clippings can smother your lawn, preventing it from getting the moisture and sunlight it needs to grow. However, like many things in life, moderation is key. ![]() So not only do you save yourself the labor of bagging and the landfill from the clippings, you could end up saving yourself money in fertilizer costs too! We typically advise homeowners to leave clipping on the lawn to recycle these nutrients, which can help protect and grow your turf’s roots! The clippings typically decompose quickly and return nitrogen and other nutrients to the soil, which can actually reduce your need for fertilizer. ![]() Grass clippings contain significant amount of nitrogen, phosphorous, and potassium, which are the nutrients in fertilizer. However, raking and removing grass clippings from a mowed lawn is not only a grueling and unpleasant job, but it’s also a waste of space in the landfill. Some homeowners love the look of a freshly mowed lawn completely free of grass clipping piles. What should I do with my grass clippings? We thought we’d take some time to give the long answer to these questions to help you understand the benefits and risks of each method to your lawn and how it can affect overall turf health. Should I bag grass clippings? Or leave them on my lawn? What are the pros and cons of each? Along with this spring growth, our lawns have started growing too, and Saturdays are once again filled with the sounds of lawn mowers firing up!Īs we adjust to mowing season once again, a common question we get this time of year is about grass clippings. The trees are beginning to bloom and the daffodils and crocuses are providing pops of colors to our flower beds. We’re finally enjoying some more consistent spring-like weather here in the New River Valley. ![]()

It wasn't until 2008 that Cedar Fair restored The Racer to its original form by changing the right track to ride forward again. Though only intended for the remainder of the 1982 operating season, the change lasted twenty-six years due to its popularity. Triton is the largest moon with a 2,700 km diameter and is larger than the dwarf planets of the solar system Pluto and Eris. Role in episode Every 100 years, Neptune's moon appears out of a volcano. ' Description It is a lime green, glowing moon with three dark green spots that appear to represent a distorted smiley face. The irregular moons of Neptune consist of Halimede, Laomedia, Nereid, Neso, Psamanthe, Sao and Triton. Neptune's moon is a moon that appears in the episode ' Feral Friends. Larissa has an estimated diameter of 200 km while Proteus is estimated to be around 150-250 km. Larissa and Proteus are the two largest of Neptune’s regular moons. Galatea has been discovered to slowly move towards the surface of Neptune, which indicates that it will either crash with Neptune, or break up into planetary rings. It is believed that Galatea is a piece of one of Neptune’s ancient satellites. They generally follow inclined eccentric and often retrograde orbits far from Neptune the only exception. Galatea is the fourth moon closest to Neptune and has a surface that displays no geological changes. Neptunes irregular moons consist of the planets remaining satellites (including Triton). Despina is believed by astronomers to be a shepherd moon small moons that orbit just outside the edge of planetary rings. Naiad and Thalassa are the two regular moons closest to the planet and orbits between two of Neptune’s planetary rings. The regular moons consist of Despina, Galatea, Larissa, Naiad, Proteus and Thalassa. A previously-known vortex at the southern pole is evident in Webb’s view, but for the first time Webb has revealed a continuous band of high-latitude clouds surrounding it. Irregular moons orbit farther from Neptune. Neptune’s 164-year orbit means its northern pole, at the top of this image, is just out of view for astronomers, but the Webb images hint at an intriguing brightness in that area. Regular moons are closer to the planet, some even closer than Neptune’s planetary rings. The moons of Neptune are classified as Regular Moons and Irregular Moons. After Triton’s discovery, it took another century for astronomers to find the second moon of Neptune. The first, and the largest, moon, Triton, to be discovered was found just 17 days after the planet itself was discovered.
1/12/2023 0 Comments Que es minitube![]() ![]() FIGURE 4 Backfilling with waste In-place behaviorįor horizontal LFG collection, the flow and the head loss in the minitube blanket are governed by the minitubes (the head loss in the geotextile layers being negligible). The size and weight of the waste compactor, as well as the length of the compactor teeth, should be considered when designing the thickness of the initial waste layer over the geocomposite. A minimum of 3 feet (0.9 m) of selected waste should be placed on top of the geocomposite prior to operating a compactor over the area. Waste is placed directly over the minitube blanket ( Figure 4). FIGURE 3 Connection of the minitube blanket to the collector pipe Nevertheless, some specific measures will be taken to manage the condensates (gradation of the support with a slope away from the manifold, condensate drain at one end of the manifold, etc.). Due to its limited thickness and its low hydraulic conductivity in contrast with the surrounding waste, the minitube blanket network won’t obstruct the downward leachate flow into the waste mass and reduce the potential for plugging the perforated LFG collectors. The minitube blanket is unrolled directly on the waste and connected to a collector pipe using connectors specially developed to fasten the pipes from the composite to the collector pipe ( Figure 3). ![]() This is a significant loss of airspace and waste disposal tipping fees during the lifetime of a landfill. Common spacing between horizontal LFG collectors is about 50–100 feet (15–30 m) horizontally and 30–40 feet (9–12 m) vertically. Therefore, for most applications, the applied combined reduction factors for tubular drainage geocomposites are almost half of those applied to standard geonet geocomposites (Maier and Fourmont 2013).Ī roll is typically 13-feet (4-m) wide and it replaces a 3-foot (0.9-m) wide × 6.5-foot (2-m) deep trench filled with aggregates surrounding a 6-inch (150-mm) diameter perforated high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipe. 2010) because they don’t experience geotextile intrusion into the drainage conduits (the minitubes) and no creep in compression of the minitubes when confined. They are compliant with ASTM D7931, Standard Guide for Specifying Drainage Geocomposites, and are defined as multilinear drainage geocomposites in ASTM D4439, Standard Terminology for Geosynthetics.Īn important characteristic of tubular drainage geocomposites is that they maintain their transmissivity under significant normal stresses (Saunier et al. Tubular drainage geocomposites have been used in landfill applications around the world for more than 25 years. The minitube blanket is comprised of 1-inch (25-mm) corrugated polypropylene perforated pipes spaced on 10-inch (250-mm) centers between two nonwoven geotextile layers ( Figure 2). FIGURE 1 Minitube blanket installation Minitube blanket description and installationĪs this technology differs from more common solutions, it is important to first describe the product to be used. This paper presents the significant advantages of using a tubular drainage geocomposite for LFG collection as compared with traditional horizontal LFG collectors ( Figure 1). Traditional methods of LFG collection can be time-consuming and expensive to install, and installation sometimes can be delayed due to seasonal and budgetary issues. The success of an LFGTE project is directly related to the performance of the GCCS. Also, LFG can be processed into a compressed or natural gas for home heating or vehicle use, respectively. LFGTE projects can have design lives in excess of 20 years and range in size from a few kilowatts to 10 megawatts or more. In general, LFGTE projects use the LFG to fuel specially designed turbines, reciprocating engines or boilers. Because of the energy potential of the methane gas, landfill gas-to-energy (LFGTE) projects have been developed to capitalize on renewable sources of green fuel. The collected LFG is typically sent to a destruction device, such as a flare, where it is combusted, and the methane is converted to carbon dioxide. Typically, LFG is controlled by an active vacuum blower system, which extracts LFG through a network of horizontal collectors embedded in rock-filled trenches inside the waste. The need to install a gas collection and control system (GCCS) is dependent on the amount and type of waste accepted. The management of LFG at landfills is an important, and often costly, operational aspect of a well-run landfill. ![]() 1/12/2023 0 Comments Bengal tabby mix![]() ![]() Be careful not to confuse this with rosetting the tabby pattern. Back leg stripes seem to be a bit easier to break than front legs. When you see Bengals with more spots on their legs than stripes, that Bengal is breaking the domestic tabby pattern. Tabby cats have beautiful striping around their legs. Whether judging a cat in the show hall or simply assessing a Bengal as a beautiful pet, when these traditional domestic tabby patterns are broken, it adds to the look that distinguishes Bengals from all other breeds of domestic cats. The Bengal breed has many cats who are breaking these tabby markings which is a huge step forward in regards to the pattern because it is not easy. Their legs are spotted their tails are spotted, and they have straight tram lines instead of a tabby M. These small wildcats do not have any of these markings.
